New Home – Feng Shui Update 1 - Addendum

Home from the Spirit Fair, I got changed, had some lunch and then went into the back shed, collected my work gloves, Japanese Pruning Saw and secateurs and headed to the front…

I only removed one of the two trees this afternoon – my Dad pointed out the other one is actually grown into hydro, telephone AND cable lines and I need to talk with BC Hydro before attempting to remove it.  So it got left alone.

But I thought you might like to check out the before and during pictures – I say during, because the other tree still needs to come out and much of the rest of the crap in there will also need to come out as well… but, since a picture says a thousand words, I’ll just share these with you:

Before the cutting-down of vegetation

Still some work to go, but mostly "after"

New Home – Feng Shui Update 1

Wow – I am so far behind in keeping you up to date on the Feng Shui happenings with the new house!  Granted, there’s been a lot of stuff going on, but I can’t believe I haven’t updated you on the most recent Feng Shui happenings here in Cumberland!

Way back in August (on the 20th) when I had the pre-purchase home inspection done, I also had Terri Perrin from Fine Art of Intention Feng Shui come out and do an initial walk-through of the house in order to gather information and take pictures so that she could collect enough information in order to assess the house and provide me with feedback based on what she was learning in her mentorship program with Daniel David Kennedy, author of Feng Shui for Dummies.

Possession of the house completed, I took possession on September 26th and moved myself and my things in on the 28th of September.  And then, on October 3rd, Terri came over to share with me the results of her studies and the feedback from her mentor and student group – mu house had been used as a case study and evidently provided MUCH in the way of discussion!

And the feedback was amazing!  There are a number of high level challenges for the house:
  • Pillar 1 of the home – the mouth of Chi (the front door) is way overgrown with vegetation, there is a roof access hole directly over the stairs, the drive ends right at the stairs, the front door is damaged, and the driveway is directly across the street from park access
  • Pillar 2 of the home – the stove is visible from all three doors in the home (considered to be an unprotected position) the fridge and stove are right beside each other and the hot water tank is positioned almost right behind the stove
  • Pillar 3 of the home – the master bedroom has the attic access hatch in it

Additionally:
  • I have a missing gua in my home (the wealth area is completely not there - well, ok, it IS there, it’s just outside and the space where my hot water tank sits,)
  • Outside the house, the garden shed is in the relationship area and the house is directly on the property line
  • The front and back doors are in a direct line to each other
  • The bathroom has no windows.

Terri provided a list of cures to follow for each of these areas as well as a reminder that once I have completed each cure physically, I should also do the three secrets reinforcement in order to really cement my intention.

In addition to the cures provided for each of these challenges, I will also go through and complete a number of the smaller cures I used in my previous residence – a few off the top of my head will be:
  • Red string around any and all pipes draining water from the house.
  • Colour reinforcements to the areas in the home needing a boost
  • arrangement of symbolism to assist in the boost of energy where needed.

The biggest challenge I have been having this last couple of weeks (and yes, to be fair to myself, I have only actually been in the house for two weeks and three days) is finding time to get everything done.  It seems that I get home from work and am either completely exhausted (from the training program) and once I have dinner and get Jasmine walked it’s after 9:00 PM (like it is right now) and I’m ready for a bath and bed!

So how will I combat this? I have a plan.

I will try and get one thing done an evening. With the intention to put a single Feng Shui cure into place each week. It may be home improvement required – like chopping back some of the underbrush in the back yard (a not-raining day project) or perhaps organizing the room that will eventually be my home office in order to make it functional AS a home office.  The bottom line is that this is a long term project for me.  One thing at a time.  One project at a time, one step at a time, one day at a time and one week at a time.

But rest assured, it WILL all get done.

First up? I am going to tackle the first item on the first list: Today, after I finish off some quick errands, I am going to cut back the vegetation that has overgrown the front of the house, clear up the space, move some stuff around, look into getting a small square of plywood cut to fill the access hole and, just because I think it would look better, I’ll also look into getting a proper light fixture for the front porch.

The front of my house - BEFORE I cut all of the vegetation back...
Once I have completed all of the cures there, as well as the Three Secrets Reinforcement, I'll post some more pictures and my feelings about this part of the project.

I can’t afford to spend a bunch of money right now – and my next post will tell you why – so I may be making a trip to the ReStore to look for light fixtures, but as I said, I’m looking to take care of this stuff one small step at a time.

I will, after all, be living here for a VERY long time.
